Telecom companies to pay AGR dues in installments, government reaches Supreme Court

The government reached the Supreme Court on Monday to approve the formula for telecom companies to pay AGR dues through installments over the next 20 years.

On the other hand, telecom company Vodafone Idea said on Monday that it has made an additional payment of Rs 3,354 crore towards the outstanding AGR to DoT.

It was said on behalf of the company that on the basis of its own assessment, it has paid the entire principal amount. After this repayment, Vodafone Idea has paid a total of Rs 6,854 crore towards the outstanding AGR.

According to the Department of Telecommunications, Vodafone Idea Limited owes a total of Rs 53,000 crore, including interest, penalty and interest on delayed payment.

At the same time, according to the company’s own assessment, it owes Rs 21,533 crore.
