Nirbhaya case: Mukesh’s plea rejected in SC, rape accused moved to ICJ

Nirbhaya convicts have now approached the international court, seeing no way to escape the execution. The convicts Akshay Kumar Singh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma have petitioned the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to ban the execution.

Culprits of Nirbhaya are to be hanged at 5.30 am on March 20. In such a situation, the culprits are trying every trick so that their hanging is postponed for the fourth time.

Earlier, the hanging of the culprits has been postponed thrice. He was first to be hanged on January 22, which was changed to February 1.

The second time too, the hanging of the accused was postponed due to lack of legal options. After this, his hanging was fixed on March 3, which was postponed due to the pending mercy petition of convict Pawan Gupta.

However, now that all the legal options of the convicts have been exhausted, it is believed that the culprits will be hanged on 20 March 2020 at 5.30 am. To stop this, the guilty have gone to the ICJ.

On Monday, the Supreme Court turned down a plea seeking action against his former lawyer Vrinda Grover. In this petition, he has petitioned the Supreme Court through his lawyer ML Sharma seeking permission to file a curative and mercy petition again.

In the petition, Mukesh has accused Amicus Curie Vrinda Grover of misinforming the legal remedies.

The petition stated that Grover was forced to file a curative petition within a week after the death warrant issued on 7 January, while not being informed that the review petition was dismissed in July 2018. He can file a curative petition within three years.
