The National Health Authority (NHA) on Saturday said that screening and treatment of Kovid-19 in private laboratories and empaneled hospitals will be free for the beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat. The NHA, implementing the National Health Insurance Scheme, said that this would increase the country’s ability to deal with the corona virus epidemic.
Giving information about this, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan also said that 50 crore people will be screened and treated free of cost under Ayushman Bharat.
The Health Minister tweeted, ‘Over 50 crore poor and vulnerable citizens will be eligible for free corona screening and treatment under Ayushman Bharat. Testing in private hospitals and treatment in designated hospitals has now been made free to Ayushman beneficiaries across India.
The NHA said in a statement that screening and treatment to detect Kovid-19 infection in government centers is already available for free. Now, more than 50 crore people eligible under the health insurance scheme will also be able to avail the benefit of screening and treatment in empaneled hospitals through private labs.
The NHA said that empaneled hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana can use their authorized testing centers or add them to any authorized testing centers. Following this NHA order, the number of private hospitals to examine and treat Corona may also increase. Having private sector participation will increase the care of Kovid-19 patients.
The government is believed to have taken this decision due to the steps taken by several private health insurers, including ICICI Lombard Health Insurance and Star Health & Allied Insurance. It may be noted that these companies have provided Kovid-19 health insurance policy to their customers.
The same corona virus continues to wreak havoc in the country.
