Samajwadi Party (SP) president Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday met Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik at Raj Bhawan and handed over a memorandum over ‘deteriorating law and order situation’ in the state.
It comes on the backdrop of massive protest over the murder of a minor girl by two accused in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh. The 2.5-year-old girl’s mutilated body was found in a garbage dump on June 2.
Raising questions over the state government, Akhilesh Yadav said Girls are not safe under this government, What is the government doing. He further said, ‘Daughters are raped and murdered, is this the new India’.
Expressing concerns, Yadav said that it is unfortunate that these incidents are happening, is this how civil society looks like’.
Yadav in a tweet said, ‘Rapes, murders and political killings are increasing at an alarming rate. The CM is chairing meetings upon meetings but the law and order situation is only deteriorating. Now the first woman head of the bar council of Agra has been shot. Even upholders of the law are not safe’.
While BSP Supremo Mayawati also slammed the BJP-led Government over Law and Order Issue.
